Loved by passersby like Lisa Mayock, Sue Williamson, and Yousra Elbagir, Sincerely, Tommy is a Bed-Stuy concept store and coffee shop. Disappointed by the lack of local brands represented in the neighborhood's shopping options, Kai Avent-deLeon opened the shop almost 3 years ago with the goal of empowering emerging and local labels. Since then, Sincerely, Tommy has become not only a popular shopping destination, but a place where the local community gathers.
Avent-deLeon's goals for her store are clearly translated into the layout and setup of the space. Alongside the clothing racks, you'll find thoughtfully placed pieces of art, homeware items, and knick knacks. Arranged in a way that may appear purely decorative, they're actually part of Sincerely, Tommy's inventory, and have been sourced from both local makers and artists overseas that Avent-de-Leon has discovered during her travels.
Sincerely, Tommy uses its space to host events that bring people together, like its "Sanctuary, A Space for Women" series. The community vibes are further emphasized at S,T Coffee, the coffee bar inside the shop that serves as a space for meeting, greeting, and getting onto WiFi. S,T Coffee gets all their beans from Brooklyn-based Cafe Grumpy and also brings in pastries from local bakeries and cafés.
